8 Steps To Succeeding at Distance Learning

Covid-19 has reshaped the world of education, requiring millions of students to transition to remote learning, many for the very first time. Remote learning gives you a lot of flexibility which means you have to take some extra steps to be successful. You must be proactive about creating the at-home structure you would normally get in school. In order to continue accomplishing your educational goals, it is important to find ways to adapt to distance learning. Here are 8 Steps To Succeeding at Distance Learning! Be sure to share with your families, students, and education leaders!

1. Create A Quiet and Clean Workspace
Choose an area in your home where you feel comfortable and productive. Be sure to choose an area with minimal distractions to allow you to stay focused.

2. Create A Complete Schedule of Your Classes, Homework and Assignments
Keep your days structured by creating an effective schedule including classes, homework, studying, and breaks. This will help you master time management. Be sure to update your schedule each day!

3. Minimize and Eliminate Distractions
When classes are in session be sure to have all other electronics off, lights on, sitting up and out of bed, and class on full screen to avoid distractions.

4. Actively Participate
Participation will show you are engaged and will help you better understand the material.

5. Keep Your Family Informed
Let your family know your schedule and availability. This will also help to minimize distractions.

6. Set Aside Time to Study
Schedule study sessions each day to stay on top of your schoolwork. Group study sessions can also be helpful.

7. Take Advantage of Video Break-out Groups
Actively participating in break-out groups gives you the chance to learn from your peers and share your perspective. It also makes the virtual learning experience more enjoyable!

8. Connect With Your Peers and Teachers
Collaborative learning is one the most rewarding experiences when it comes to acquiring knowledge. Be sure to create and maintain meaningful relationships with your peers and teachers. It will help you learn more, stay motivated, and have a safe space to express your own views.
